AM2 is an industry owned assessment which has provided the gold standard for measuring the practical capability of electrotechnical industry personnel, and has been doing this task since 1985.
AM2 is a practical assessment with a short online component, taken over 14 hours in total. During this time candidates undertake a series of timed tasks in specially equipped booths containing typical electrical installation wiring systems.
P&R Hurt are proud to be Licenced by NET (National Electrotechnical Training) To run their dedicated AM2 centre for the benefit of their own stream of electrical apprentices and others wishing to undertake the assessment.
Apprentices approaching the end of their training for the JIB Apprentice Training Scheme and the Electrical Installation Modern Apprenticeship, or others wishing to accredit practical experience, must take the test. The test is a two-day industry recognised trade test that is controlled by the National Electrotechnical Training (NET) Organisation in conjunction with the Joint Industry Board (JIB) and Summit Skills who are currently the Sector Skills Council for the Electrotechnical Industry.
The test can only be taken at an Approved AM2 Test Centre, licensed annually by NET, and should be booked directly with the Approved AM2 Test Centre.
Candidates should possess the basic underpinning knowledge and practical skills in all of the assessment areas specified.
If you consider that you may not be adequately prepared for the AM2 Test and that you may benefit from some theory or practical skill revision then you may wish to consider enrolling in our Skill Enhancement Training prior to booking or attempting your AM2 Test.
The Skill Enhancement Course is a short course of skills revision training for those who are about to take the AM2. Subjects covered include:
• Safe Isolation
• Practical Skills
• Motor Control Circuits
• Fault Finding and Diagnosis
• Wiring Diagrams
• Inspection and Testing
